| Since 2002, The Green Santa Project of the Scandinavian Tourist Board has promoted the “Green Santa®” as an environmental goodwill ambassador from Denmark, and promoted Denmark to Japanese people as an environmental friendly country though Green Santa®'s visits to Japan. The Project also receives monetary support from some companies and organizations, which are used to support sustainable future for children.
Green Santa® is originally conceived and developed by Søren Leerskov and Shoko Itoh and is now a very well-known brand in Japan.
The mission of Green Santa® is to teach and encourage the enterprises and people to consciously contribute to a sustainable lifestyle and environment. While aligning the character to the green business concept and Denmark as an environmentally friendly and climate conscious brand, we aim at making practical and educational co-promotions with various enterprises.
Our strategic intend is to develop the brand of Green Santa® by further contextualizing the character.
In 2006, The Green Santa Foundation was established. The Foundation are now an independent organization, although we continue to cooperate closely with the Scandinavian Tourist Board, and share some of its facilities. The purpose of Green Santa Foundation is to contribute to social causes using donations from companies and membership fees from the Green Santa Premium Club.
